Madang, Pearl of the Pacific, tourism hub province and home to many tertiary institutions in Papua New Guinea, proved itself once again, as Category A champions in the airline’s quarterly performance ratings.
Madang scooped the 2014 Category A, ‘On Time Performance’ award because it has maintained lead in all four quarters.
Port Manager Weweh Pih and Airport Manager Henry Senat were present today to receive the award. It was presented by the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Director David Conn.
Mendi also scooped the overall 2014 Chief Executive Officer Prestigious Award.
Customer service is Air Niugini’s key business, a strategy that aims to drive key requirements of customer focus, change and costs. Ports were congratulated for their hard work and performance.
Safety regulator CASA PNG praised the national airline for setting precedence and maintaining good records.
Chief Operating Officer, Tom Waqa, said this is a good sign for Papua New Guinea and gave assurance as Papua New Guinea is hosting the upcoming international events, the 2015 Pacific Games and 2018 APEC Summit.
‘On Time Performance’ is an initiative of Air Niugini’s Chief Executive Officer Simon Foo, to improve the National Flag Carrier’s customer service and motivate staff in their call of duties.
