Land title quest for Erima’s Wildlife residents

North East MP, Labi Amaiu has said that land title issues surrounding residents in Erima’s Wildlife area is still outstanding but open discussions with Minister for Lands, Benny Allen have been positive.

He says many paper land owners including prominent businessman have claimed land titles in the area but work is underway to address that issue.

MP Amaiu wants his people to acquire land titles the right way and be positive to the development of the city.

Amaiu made this known to residents at the commissioning of the Erima Wildlife water project on Friday.

The urban district of Moresby North-East is comprised of residential, industrial and commercial areas, and urban squatter settlements; suburbs include Gordon’s, Five, Six, Seven, Eight and Nine Mile, Bomana, Laloki and Boroko.

The multi-cultural electorate continues to experience rapid growth, distinguished by both planned and unplanned urban-growth expansion.

The urban district is faced with growing social and economic challenges; health problems ranging from high rates of tuberculosis infections, HIV/AIDS, among others, and urban poverty, the rise of squatter settlements, law and order and traffic congestions.

These are just some of the many issues faced by the urban district of Moresby North-East.
