Lae: New Crime Trend – Taxi Driver held hostage

A new and frightening crime trend in Lae where a taxi driver has been blindfolded and held hostage for five hours on Friday.

Philip Ruk says he was held at gunpoint after picking up a woman who was part of the gang.

He recounted that a community leader from the settlement where he was held intervened and forced his captors to release him.

It’s understood, the taxi was then used later that day in an armed robbery.
