Sinesine Yongomul MP, Kerenga Kua, said the move to shut down the Manus Regional Detention Centre has created a chaotic situation for the Australian and Papua New Guinea Governments.
Mr Kua said it is unacceptable and has already painted a negatively impacted the people of Manus Island.
He has also called on foreign and local media to respect the rights and wishes of the local people.
Kua painted the circumstances as a chaotic situation, following the shutting down of the Regional Detention Centre on Manus Island.
Mr Kua said the Australia and Papua New Guinea governments must continue this program.
Kua said the processing facility should be maintained until all arrangements are properly completed.
He is adamant both governments must take ownership.
Meanwhile, the UNHCR has urged Australia to take responsibility and provide protection and safety to the asylum seekers.
Australia remains responsible for the well-being of all those moved to Papua New Guinea until adequate, long-term solutions outside the country are found.
