The Indonesian Education and Culture Attache, Dr. Sedecor Melatanau, said a total of 155 students from Papua New Guinea have benefited from Indonesian Scholarships.
He said this during the first of its kind Indonesian University Alumni event hosted in Port Moresby yesterday.
During the Indonesian University Alumni yesterday, over 50 students, bureaucrats and stakeholders were present to witness the thesis paper presentation by these students.
This event was aimed at marketing these students to various organisations in PNG.
The Indonesian scholarship provides an opportunity for Papua New Guineans to further their education overseas in various fields of study.
According to Dr. Sedecor Melatanau, of a total of 155 students studying overseas in various Indonesian Universities, over 100 students have already been graduated.
He said many of these students have already secured jobs with different organisations in Papua New Guinea.
Among them was Computer Technology student, Fred Ogia, a computer science and technology student who has completed his studies at the Indonesian University of Computer Science.
“The language barrier, he was able to complete his studies successfully,” Ogia said.
He thanked the Indonesian Government for giving him this opportunity, and encouraged Papua New Guineans to apply for this program.
