Hopes for new High Performance Training Centre

Following the successful establishment of the High Performance Training Centre (HPTC) last year in preperation for the 2015 Pacific Games, over 700 athletes, both national and overseas-based, have now used the facility.  

With the success from the (HPTC), athletes have been able to train in preparation for their respectiv events in a world-class environment. The HPTC is still being used by athletes from different sporting codes for upcoming international tournaments.

Minister for Sports, Justin Tkatchenko, last week announced that the government is looking at building a new high performance training centre for our athletes in the coming years. 

He also said that the government will continue to fund and support its Go for Gold program, through the PNG Olympic Committee and PNG Sports Foundation.
