A fist fight and gun shots in front of Trade, Commerce andIndustry Minister Richard Maru at Angore, Hela Province on Wednesday.
Netherthe Minister nor any of his officials were hurt.
The incident happened whenthe people, apparently turned ontheir spokesperson after finding out that Minister Maru did not come withtheir project cheques asthey were led to expect.
At first it was all calm. The minister received a warm welcome by collective Awatangi villagers in Angore, andthen it turned explosive.
The fight started whenthe people found thatthey will not gettheir project money.
Whilst inthe middle of his speech,the people started questioningthe minister whther he had come withthe grants.
However,their hopes were ruined whenthey learnt therwise. This is whenthe villagers turned onthe men inthe white jacket who is believed to betheir spokesman in Port Moresby.
A gun shot put a halt tothe argument.
Minister Maru was inthe Hela Province to visitthe LNG construction sit’s and collect views fromthe people about a court order taken by an individual.
This court order had put on hold a twelve million kina Business Development Grants for the Petroleum Development Licensed Area number 8.
