Gold Nugget School Cricket Kicks Off

The Gold Nugget School Cricket Trophy kicked off the Under-14 matches yesterday, at the Ela Murray International School, in Port Moresby.

The competition, initially targeted for Secondary Schools, has now included a competition to cater for the interest from Primary Schools.

 

The Gold Nugget School Cricket Trophy for Schools kicked off its 5 week competition with 3 schools participating in the U-14 division.

 

Gradually building young cricketer’s confidence from softball to hardball cricket, students from Ela Murray and Gordon’s International School took to the Pitch at the Ela Murray Oval yesterday afternoon.

 

Cricket PNG will provide players with all necessary equipment and gear to all team’s part taking in the competition. This is a lead up to the Secondary Schools’ competition to commence at the end of term 2.

 

Cricket PNG’s Game Development Officers as well as the Barramundis will also be available to officiate the matches throughout the competition.

 

The program is currently piloted in Port Moresby, and will be rolled out in 8 provinces throughout the country.
