A Catholic Parish that gave birth to seven ther parishes withinthe Eastern End of Southern Highlands Province will be holding its first Thanksgiving Mass on Christmas day.
This is to thankthe man abover for the blessings it has bestowed onthe people from this end ofthe province throughthe Church.
This will also be its first fundraising drive to raise funds to construct a new church building.
A group of old parishioners from Ialibu parish foundtheir way intothe provincial capital, Mendi, to airtheir pleas for assistance to build a new church in Ialibu.
The establishment ofthe church in 1955 not only broughtthe word of God, but also education and health services.
Thousands of people benefited fromthese services, and nowthe St. Clare Catholic Church in Ialibu, for the first time, has marked Christmas Dayas its Thanksgiving day.
They believe it is timethe church and all parishioners say thank you for the many blessingsthey have received.
Proceeds fromthe thanksgiving will go towardsthe fundraising drive to buildthe new church for the Parish.
The cost will be close to one million kina, andthey are appealing for donations fromtheir children and thers who have benefited fromthe church throughthe services it has offered.
St. Clare Parish wasthe first point established bythe first Catholic Missionaries. From here,the seven ther parishes withinthe Kagua Erave, Ialibu Pangia and Imbongu electorates were born.
