Division To Cater For School Girls

Most schools in Port Moresby participating in the roll-out of the Pacific in Union program are entering their final weeks of the 6 week program.

St Joseph’s International Catholic College is the first of the schools to host their Rugby Festival to conclude their participation in the program.

Since its inception in 2012, there has been a growing interest in girls participating in the PiU program.

John Agovai, NCD School rugby coordinator, shares the same sentiments with PNGRFU to create and implement programs to bridge the gap between players playing in the respective provincial competitions to representative level.

He suggests that Capital Rugby Union in Port Moresby should take a step further and include an U-19 women’s division to cater for the interest of the school girls for next years competition.

St Joseph’s International Catholic College, Port Moresby Grammar, Port Moresby International Schools, and recently, Boroko Primary and Kopkop College, are among others that have included the Pacific in Union Program as a major annual event in their respective school calendar.
