The Finance Department launched its five year Corporate Plan 2018 – 2022 today (16 August 2018).
The event coincided with the first annual general meeting of the Association of Government Accountants and Public Finance Management Inc.
Finance Minister, James Marape, said the corporate plan sets the benchmark for the department, to invest more inputs, commitment, and resources, to improve the performance of timely accounting, accurate financial reporting and supporting frameworks, which will ensure that the department continues to perform credibly.
Marape is convinced, that the plan will guide the department, through the socio-economic transition.
He commended Finance Secretary Dr. Ken Ngangan, for the many reform milestones and transformational changes of the department, in the last five years.
Dr. Ngangan said the department’s focus over the duration of the plan, is to assist the government to create a smarter, more productive, and sustainable public sector.
He said with the plan, the department has consolidated its purposes to assist the government, to achieve policy outcomes by advising on expenditure, managing sustainable public resource, driving public sector transformation and delivering cost-effective service to the people.
