CPL PNG Lewas Remain Unbeatable

The CPL PNG Lewas will now go into seven months of high performance training in the lead up to the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in England.

After their recent wins over Japan and Samoa, the team is now looking at improving their fitness level as they will be meeting bigger bodies such as Sri Lanka and South Africa in February 2017.

The CPL PNG Lewas have just returned from the East Asia Pacific Qualifiers in Apia, Samoa, in which they remained unbeatable.

Now looking forward to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in England, Lewas coach Rodney Maha is aiming to put his team through tougher high performance training over the next seven months.

Maha said it will not be easy to go up against the likes of Sri Lanka, India and South Africa, and the main aim now is to invest in his team’s fitness through high performance training.

Cricket PNG Chairman, Wayne Dorgan, was pleased with the Lewas performance and said their achievement is a proud moment, not only for Cricket PNG but for the country as well.

The recent successful tour of the Lewas in Samoa is expected elevate the level of participation of women in sports in PNG.
