Corruption Watchdog Questions Government on COVID-19 Audit

Corruption Watchdog, Transparency International PNG is concerned there isn’t a comprehensive COVID-19 financial report.

With the August sitting of parliament commencing this afternoon, TIPNG says the Government now has 21 days left to produce and table in parliament a report on SOE expenditure as required under Section 8, 3 of the Emergency Act 2020.

While the Police Minister Bryan Kramer announced last month the completion of an internal audit report undertaken by PABA covering K45.3m of funding released to the department of health, the report raises a lot of questions.

TIPNG says the report should capture the various contributions, funding, and in-kind provided by both local and international.
