Christian Democratic Party Leader Kelly Naru says the country needs Christian policies that will change people’s mindsets in order to function successfully as a nation.
He said appreciating God’s plan for humanity will give effect to God’s will in our lives to collectively progress and prosper.
Naru made this statement during a recent Christian Democratic Party (CDP) fundraising event in Port Moresby.
The Morobe Governor Kelly Naru said the government has to function in accordance with God’s plan to allow service delivery in communities.
He said Papua New Guinea is a Christian country and the majority of the population are Christians, and therefore they are duty bound to give effect to his will and plans.
While highlighting the recent social, political and economic issues affecting the country he said the CDP emphasises good Christian leadership principles in politics for the government to run this country.
However, Naru said it is very difficult to apply theoretic principles in a democratic environment where there is money, cargo cult and other weighing factors.
The CDP will be challenging us all to do serious soul searching in order to find God’s will. Naru said there is a leadership problem in this country because we have forgotten to put God first in our lives.
Naru was also disappointed with the K55 million cut from church health facilities throughout the country.
Despite the budget cuts to mission run health facilities, Morobe will still allocate one tenth of its budget to churches as part of its commitment to God.
