The Southern Leg of the Export Rugby Championship concluded yesterday afternoon with the Port Moresby Boromas finishing off undefeated a spirited Daru Stingray’s outfit.
In a fiery contest, the Boromas forwards dominated as they walked all over the Stingrays to an easy win 46 – 14.
In the day’s first match, Oro Fuzzy Wuzzy took the field in the hopes of upsetting the Port Moresby Gaigais in the final match of the Southern leg of the Export Rugby Championship.
It took no time for the Gaigais to jump into gear and show their supremacy, as they were out to redeem themselves following their loss to the Port Moresby Boromas last Wednesday.
In the end, the Gaigais proved too much to handle for the Oro Fuzzy Wuzzy, winning the match 41 points to 13.
In the day’s final match, the in-form Boromas took on crowd favorite the Daru Stingrays.
Stingrays fans turned out in numbers, hoping their side would cause an upset in their final game.
In a very physical match, both sides were right at each other’s throats, but the composure and control from the Boromas proved to give them the extra edge to start the match strongly.
With tempers flaring from both sides, the match was stopped midway through the second half with both sides having a go at each other.
Although the stingrays put up a spirited fight right till the final whistle, it just wasn’t enough as the Boromas were too strong, coming off victors 46 – 14.
