Vanimo Green MP, Belden Namah, sought legal interpretation from the Attorney General yesterday on the sacking of Sandaun provincial assembly clerk.
Mr. Namah wanted to know why the clerk of Sandaun Provincial Assembly was suspended basing on legal opinion and not a court order.
Clerk of Assembly, Simon Melendu, was suspended basing on a legal opinion by the State Solicitor.
All these events follow after the provincial assembly elected Mr.Namah as the Governor of West Sepik on the 22nd of April 2015.
West Sepik governorship was once again raised in parliament by Belden Namah, who was elected as Governor by 11 LLG presidents in April this year.
The member for Vanimo Green and provincial assembly elected Governor maintains that his election followed due process and challenged those opposing his election to take the matter to court.
Making reference to a newspaper report, Mr.Namah questioned the suspension of the Sandaun Provincial Assembly clerk.
Justice Minister, Ano Pala, in response told the house that in accordance to Parliament’s Standing Order, no member of parliament is allowed to seek legal opinion from the Attorney General however; the topic is of importance and calls for an answer.
The Attorney General said in view of the standing order, the questions raised are related to a specific legal issue and therefore a proper response will be delivered in response to the questions.
