Port Moresby AFL Season Resumes this Weekend

by Skola Sengi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The Port Moresby Esiloan AFL Premiership resumes its season this weekend at the University of Papua New Guinea Ovals, following a Pacific Games enforced hiatus.

Heading into Round nine, title favourites, Concept Koboni, are setting their sights for another premiership, sitting at the top of the table in the senior men’s division.

2014 semi-finalists Gordons Kokofa’s sit behind with 24 points and will face a tough challenge from Kobonis on Sunday afternoon.

Defence Hawks will hope to maintain their lead in the men’s reserve grade competition, as they take on Gerehu Magpies on Saturday. While they sit comfortably ahead of the chasing pack on 28 points, Concept Koboni and Gerhu Magpies will look to mount a late season charge for the reserve grade title.

In the women’s division, Gordons Kokofas lock horns with Gerehu Magpies, while 2014 premiers University Tigers will need to get the motor running if they are wanting to make their way to the finals for a repeat in 2015.

The junior and secondary schools competition will also kick-off this week at the Murray Barracks Ovals.
