Australia: Rudd to be made Prime Minister today

Kevin Rudd is expected to be sworn in as Australian Prime Minister bythe Governor General Quentin Beyce this morning around 9:30am (AEST) following Julia Gillard’s ousting as Labor leader.

Six key ministers also resigned inthe aftermath.

Rudd’s new deputy, Anthony Albanese, who is replacing Wayne Swan is also expected to be present atthe meeting to be sworn in also by Governor General.

Rudd&#39’s promotion marks a stunning turnaround for the former prime minister and polling suggeststhe election scheduled for September will be more closely fought than was expected.
