Asaro District Hospital Handover

Papua New Guinea needs more health facilities to cater for the 89 Districts in the country, Currently, there are 14 districts hospitals.

This was revealed by the Health & HIV Minister, Michael Malabag, at the handover of the Asaro District Hospital from the Republic of Korea to the National Government.

The Asaro district hospital is a project of the Republic of Korea Government under the Korea International Cooperation Agency or KOICA.

This is the second district hospital donated, from KOICA, last year, KOICA donated the Kwikila District Hospital.

The Asaro District Hospital will have its official opening on the 24th of June this year in the Eastern Highlands Province.

“The project supports the Papua New Guinea National Health Plan to improve and strengthen the district health system in order to provide better services to the rural majority,” said Republic of Korea Ambassador to PNG, His Excellency Kim Seong Choon.

Ambassador Choon believes that the project on strengthening the district health system in PNG is a landmark undertaking on the basis of partnership between PNG and the Republic of Korea.
