The vice President of the PNG Volleyball Federation, Kila Dick, has come out publicly to express his disappoint at the National Men’s performance at the 2015 Pacific Games earlier this year.
He said that following the outstanding performance of the Amoa at the Mini Pacific Games last year in Wallis and Futuna, he believes the team did not perform to expectation.
The previous Pacific Games in 2011 saw the team win bronze and also take out Gold at the Mini Pacific Games last year.
But despite placing fourth in 2015, Dick has raised questions regarding the team’s performance.
Despite the results for the National Volleyball Team, Dick said the team has the potential to be more competitive in coming international tournaments and while he praised the efforts of the Beach Volleyball men who created history by winning the first ever Gold Medal in volleyball, he believes the influence of expatriate coaches, was detrimental to their success.
The team will now prepare to come back stronger to uplift PNG Volleyball in the region.
