GAIRE PRIMARY SCHOOL EXCURSION TO NATIONAL PARLIAMENT

Hiri-Koiari Member Keith Iduhu welcomed teachers and students of Gaire Primary School to the National Parliament Haus during their school excursion on Tuesday.

“I was delighted to welcome students from Grades five, six and seven together with their headmaster and senior teachers, to the National Parliament yesterday. My youngest constituents watched a session from the gallery and joined me for lunch on the lawn,” Iduhu said.

Iduhu highlighted that the students were well behaved and asked thoughtful questions.

He said that the mature behavior of the students is a testament to the dedication of their parents, teachers, and the village community.

“I shared with them about my own journey to the peoples house. I encouraged them to do their best in their studies because an education provides a strong foundation for future success,” he added

Iduhu mentioned that exposing students to parliament through these types of excursions is important for providing hands-on civic education that goes beyond the classroom.

“It makes abstract concepts such as democracy, governance, and law-making tangible and relatable, inspiring students to become informed, engaged and responsible citizens,” Iduhu concluded.
