N’Dranou call on Parents to Supervise Children

Parents negligence and family-related violence has been highlighted as top factors in the increase in persons reported missing in Port Moresby. NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’Dranou, say children going to and from school must be guarded by an adult and should not be travelling alone.

“Parents should supervise their children from the house to school and back, said Perou N’Dranou. Since 29th of March at least five children were reported missing in a space of one week. Two of them have been found, while the other three remain missing.”

Since March 29th, EMTV News has collected statistics of people going missing; some cases have been reported to police while others only posted pictures of their missing relatives on social media.

One of the three people reported missing is 33-year-old Josephine Koimbu from Simbu Province. She is a mother of three and was last seen between Gordons and 8 Mile. She has been missing for seven days now as of April 9th.

Magdalene Pikip, a 48-year-old woman from Jiwaka Province was also reported missing on March 29th. She had attended the police pass-out at Bomana but did not return home that afternoon, it has been 11 days since.
