Allegiance For People

By Staycey Yalo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Allegiance Party has received its certificate from the Registrar of Political Parties effecting the change of name from PNG Constitutional Democratic Party to Allegiance.

With a formal name change with IPA and Registrar of Political Parties now in place, the party will now focus on laying down administrative ground work with drafting a party constitution.

The Allegiance Party’s single common political agenda is to save PNG by bringing down corruption and ensure a better future for generations to come.

Rather than registering a brand new party and adding to the existing 45 political parties, a strategic decision was made to use an existing registered party, the PNG Constitutional Democratic (PNGCD) Party, founded in 2010.

Under this arrangement, all coalition parties that make up the Opposition bloc will remain under the brand of the Alliance including the newly registered Allegiance Party.

With a moto of “Loyalty to God and Country”, Madang MP and Parliamentary Leader for the Party, Bryan Kramer, say the Allegiance’s main political agenda is to bring down corruption and ensure a better future for generations to come.

Allegiance Party plans to promote a major political shift in the way political parties are configured and operated. The party will be driven by membership, and to date some 7,500 people have registered to become members of the Party.

Registrar of Political Parties, Dr. Alphonse Gelu, who presented the certificate to the executives of Allegiance Party, commended the idea of political parties working in partnership with people at all levels of the society.

The next step for Allegiance now is to carry out a wider consultation between all members of society, to develop a party policy which Mr. Kramer stressed, would be driven by the people themselves.
