INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT FOR RURAL HEALTH CARE IN WABAG DISTRICT

The Wabag District Development Authority is ensuring to bring services to its people with the construction of several community health posts throughout the district.
Wabag Open member Dr Lino Tom visited the construction site of the Irerep Community health post project just a few kilometers outside of Wabag Town recently.
Upon his visit he announced that the first phase of the rollout undertaken by the Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA) will be completed by the end of next month before they move on to staff housing.
“The second phase will be the staff house and incinerator installation. All these new constructions are replacements of old gazetted health posts,” Dr. Lino said.
He added that the community health post project initiatives funding component is part of the Enga Provincial Health Authority (EPHA) restructure program to replace old, colonial aid posts and health Centres.
He further announced that a new community health post will be built for Wakumale village sharing border with the Ambum LLG of the Kompiam Ambum LLG. There is also plans to build a health post at Komaites village near the Surinki LLG.
The proposed community health Centre facilities funding has already been sourced for mobalisation work to begin as soon as possible.
“Health care must be easily accessible and affordable as per the national health plan,” Dr Lino concluded.
