The PNG Lewas have returned home following their campaign at the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025 in Thailand.
The national women’s team competed in the tournament from November 20–30 in Bangkok, delivering a spirited performance against strong international opposition.
Captain Brenda Tau said she was pleased with the team’s overall performance as they now turn their focus to upcoming practice matches in Australia.
“The team played well, and I am proud of how far we have come especially our fighting spirit and mentality of not giving up when matches became difficult,” Tau said.
“It was a great and challenging experience. In every tournament we continue to learn, improve, and challenge ourselves both individually and as a team. The fight and comebacks shown by the girls were outstanding, and it was teamwork that got us through each match,” she added.
On behalf of the team, Tau thanked Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG), fans, supporters, and families for their continued support, saying the squad was happy to be back home.
The PNG Lewas will resume preparations and are scheduled to travel later this month for practice matches in Australia before heading to Nepal for the Global Qualifier from February 2–11, 2026.
PNG finished fifth on the points table with eight points from seven matches and a positive net run rate (NRR) of +0.026, recording four wins. The team secured notable victories against Thailand and the Netherlands.
Top batters included Brenda Tau, Hollan Doriga, and Henao Thomas, while leading bowlers were Pauke Siaka and Henao Thomas.
Cricket Papua New Guinea congratulated the team on their strong representation and confirmed its support for the upcoming tours.
