SCHOOL FEE ASSISTANCE FOR EASTERN HIGHLANDS STUDENTS ATTENDING UOG

The Eastern Highlands students attending University of Goroka have received K1.5m in school fee assistance from the Eastern Highlands Provincial government.
The presentation was done by Eastern Highlands governor Simon Sia at the UOG Campus last Monday.
This follows the K97,000 assistance to the 66 EHP students attending Highlands Regional Nursing College.
During the presentation at UOG governor Sia highlighted that the Provincial Government’s initiatives under his leadership complement the National Government’s Policy in Education.
Governor Sia brushed aside critiques saying the school fee assistance program builds a generation of lazy people who cannot work.
He said this decision taken under his leadership will have ripple benefits to parents along with the Provincial and National Government.
He told the students that he understands the struggles parents go through and the different family backgrounds the students came from.
Governor Sia also expressed his sincere apologies for the delay in delivering the cheque on time while he encouraged the students to study hard.
He also presented a K403, 500 cheques to Eastern Highlands Students attending Goroka Technical College, with other institutions to follow.
