The Hiri District Council of Women received a financial boost of K25, 000, to organize the National Women’s Day Celebration that will be held in Tubusereia village in Central Province.
The money was given by the Kairuku Hiri member, Peter Isoaimo, through the Joint District Planning and Budget Priority Committee or JDPBPC Funds.
This was announced at the opening of a new market at the Bereina Station. The event coincided with the presentation of two new vehicles to the Bereina Community.
The vehicles will be used to transport educational and health supplies from Port Moresby to the station, and assist patients during emergencies.
In his delivery speech, the member encouraged his people to submit proposals for funding assistance. He said if their proposals are in line with the district goals, then funds will be released to them to carry out their projects.
Meanwhile, the money given to the women group has already been deposited on to Women’s Council Account.
The celebration themed 'Working Together to Inspire Change', is set for June 10, and will be held in Tubusereia village. It is expected to attract women from all over Central to show off their sewing, baking and decoration skills.
The Hiri Queen Competition will also be hosted during the celebrations with five contestants.
