WNB Launches EQUITV Programme

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

For the last 20 years, providing and accessing quality education in the country has not been easy. From text based to radio, television is the next best medium that the PNG Education Department is considering for the effective delivery of education services throughout Papua New Guinea.

The West New Britain Province launched the EQUITV concept, recently, at the Boas Kulei Primary School in the Hoskins Local Level Government of the Talasea District.

West New Britain is a province heavily populated with the extension of oil palm settlers, and the need for more schools. The province is now looking to extend and develop its human resource through the use of the EQUITV project.

The EQUITV concept is the next best thing that the education department is focusing on.

Godfrey Yerau from the department says, this is an innovative learning process in our education system.

The education department is now pushing for greater use of ICT and multi-media programs to address education quality in the country.

Education Secretary, Dr Michael Tapo, said the department will continue to partner with EMTV to broadcast the EQUITV program for schools around the country.
