A typhoid outbreak has been reported in the Sigu Valley of Kagua-Erave District, Southern Highlands Province.
Provincial Advisor, Martin Pat, told EM TV News this afternoon from Mendi, that that the outbreak has killed at least four children under the age five.
Mr Pat said that the area has also seen an increase with pneumonia and polio cases.
However health authorities on the ground cannot be reached to comment on the issue.
However Mr Pat said the national disaster office will soon release two water tanks to the infected areas.
This is to avoid the spread of the waterborne disease in the province.
Mr Pat said “Southern Highlands Province is in a state of darkness”. People cannot access radio and television.
Currently there are no funds yet to conduct public duties.
He called on the government leaders to fix these issues for the benefit of the people.
