Tok Piksa Episode #25, 2013

EMTV’s Lae Bereau Chief, Scott Waide gives a report onthe People’s National Congress members meeting in Lae which was held in June this year.

We’re seeing growth on an unprecedented scale. Alsothe amount of money going tothe districts andthe LLGs has never been seen before inthe history oPNG. However, there are increasing concerns thatthe country may not be able to absorb much of that gain.

Amidst allthe caution, the Government is forging ahead with small reform packages that will hopefully see more Papua New Guineas taking advantage ofthe growing economy.

Our next report from Bernadette Efi is a case where 109 youths inthe Kairuku-Hiri District of Central Province decided to turn back from Marijuana and Drug Abuse.

Drug abuse in Papua New Guineais rampant. It is illegal yet those involved are doing so with some impunity.

It’s a social problem that is fast becoming a health issue and heading towards a major economic downside.
