With PNG’s budget set to remain dependent upon extractives-related revenues for the foreseeable future, and with the start of LNG exports from the PNG LNG Project, the need for effective and transparent revenue management policies and processes to support PNG’s economic development is critical. Translating strong macroeconomic performance and extractive industry revenues into longer term improvement in living standards is a key objective, with transparency and accountability in budget management being crucial to converting increased revenue into improvements in service delivery.
