Sohe Women into Business

With the National Government pushing the SME agenda forward in the country, the Sohe District Administration in Northern Province has taken a serious step by empowering women in business.

Yesterday over 500 women gathered at the Vudal Campus to launch a week-long workshop in empowering, inspiring and adding value to women to move PNG forward.

The workshop is a joint partnership of Sohe District and the National Development Bank through its Women in Business concept.

It was a first of its kind approach taken by the province for women to tap into the business world as managers. This prompted Women from all over Sohe District to attend in numbers to launch the week-long workshop.

Speaking before the launching, Provincial Administrator Mr. Awaita called for all women to seriously take heed of the training and explore their desires in doing business. He commended Sohe District and the National Development Bank in introducing this concept as women will be empowered through the different sessions provided.

National Development Bank Women in Business Relationship Manager, Janet Kaule, said the bank has created simple options for ordinary people to start small and move up.

Sohe MP, Delilah Gore, stressed the O’Neill- Dion Government’s policy of moving services to districts, highlighting the increase in funding to NDB to drive the SME concept forward.

She called for women to be serious and be fruitful in their business endeavours. The workshop ends on Friday.
