Skyco Limited, the company contracted for the Biometric data rollout in Lae district, has distanced its business from the incident that happened at six mile in Port Moresby today.
Director Joe Kile, held an urgent press conference today and explained that those getting the fingerprints are not part of Skyco.
He explained about biometric data collection, and says there have been so many misconceptions from the public, including street preachers and pastors.
During Biometric registrations, nothing or no microchip will be inserted into the internal system of a person.
However, fingerprints, a facial scan and scan of the eyes and pupils, will be taken and recorded along with other personal details.
Skyco Director, Joe Kile, was surprised with what happened in Port Moresby, saying there was no proper awareness conducted prior to rolling out the project.
The Biometric project in Lae district is soon to be rolled out, and the people need to fully know and understand what it is.
Mr. Kile blamed street preachers and pastors for instilling misconceptions into their followers by telling them that 666 microchips will be introduced in Lae city.
Lae city is experiencing growth in business activities, and the number of people coming in over the last couple of months, is increasing.
The Biometric data rollout is aimed at finding out the real number of people belonging to Lae, and the data collected will assist greatly in the delivery of basic services to the people.
