Secretary Kali: Public Servant Health Vital

by Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Department of Personnel Management Secretary, John Kali, says the public service workforce needs to be healthy and fit.

Secretary Kali said to be more productive in the service delivery mechanism, knowing one’s medical status is vital.

He made these statements following a free medical check-up, by the Hospital Poroman Foundation today.

Kali said many public servants spend their entire time in working for the government without considering their health.

“We are now involving health and fitness in the workplace”, Kali said.

The check-up includes height, weight, blood pressure, sugar level and consultation. Further treatment and diagnosis will be directed to Paradise Private Hospital for treatment.

Secretary Kali says the move is good to promote health, as a healthy workforce will be more proactive in delivering service to the nation.

The opportunity was not taken lightly as many had no time after work. A similar health campaign was carried out at parliament last month.
