Port Moresby and Jayapura Discuss Exchange Programs

Governor of Papua Province in Indonesia, Lukas Enembe, and a delegation are in Port Moresby for talks with NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, on cultural exchange programs.

Port Moresby and Jayapura are considering exchange programs to strengthen their sister-city relationship to new heights.

At the invitation of Governor Parkop, the delegation joined the country for its recent independence celebrations in Port Moresby.

The hosts included the Indonesian Ambassador to PNG, His Excellency Ronald Manik, Moresby South MP, Justin Tkatchenko and Moresby Northeast MP, John Kaupa.

Governor Parkop has called on the governments of both countries to open up to ASEAN economies and start tapping into other business opportunities.

Governor Enembe shared similar sentiments and admitted that there were many problems in his Papua province, citing military and police brutality.
