Lae police have recovered two factory made pistols from a raid at the West Taraka settlement. The weapons had been used in armed robberies both in and outside of Lae city.

Police detectives led a group of armed officers during the raid, with one suspect apprehended by police.

The suspect was apprehended for breaching his bail condition by not appearing in the Lae District Court. The court had issued a warrant for his arrest.

He was also wanted for questioning with regards to other serious crimes.

Police discovered the two factory -made pistols. This is a .38 revolver and this one is a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol.

Both weapons, a .38 revolver and a 9mm glock semi-automatic pistol were being moved from location to location on hire.

Police are yet to find out where the .38 revolver came from. The 9mm semi-automatic glock belongs to the Seeto Kui Group of Companies.

It is believed to have been stolen from the permitted holder of the weapon during an armed robbery last year.

Lae Metropolitan Police Commander, Anthony Wagambie Jnr, said licenced owners must know how to use the weapon properly, for security measures.
