The Police Internal Investigation Unit will be carrying out checks on police issued vehicles, both marked and unmarked.
IIU Director Robert Ali says the exercise is another attempt to improving the general outlook of police resources.
A team of probationary constables will be assisting I-I-U to do the checks.
The checks are aimed at promoting the good appearance of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
The team of probationary constables have commenced a mock exercise at the Badili Police Station.
Similar checks will be conducted randomly at the eight stations in Port Moresby.
This exercise is based on standing orders derived from the RPNGC.
It is aimed at creating a uniformed outlook for police officers, the vehicles they use to conduct police operations and the barracks they live in.
The IIU Unit under Robert Ali’s leadership is encouraging police officers to maintain a high standard of discipline and promote good policing habits.
