PNG Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Breakfast Fundraiser

Women from various sectors of business have attended this morning’s PNG Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) breakfast event in Port Moresby.

Their main purpose for gathering at the Laguna Hotel in the nation’s capital was to raise funds to support the work of group.

The breakfast fundraiser was the first for this year, with WCCI calling for more support from the business community for its programs in the future.

Avia Koisen, WCCI President, when addressing participants spoke of the need to train members in the different aspects of business management in PNG.

The training programs will cover topics in financial literacy education, tax, registration of companies and businesses, business plans, entrepreneurial skills, use of smartphones, social media, packaging, customer service and marketing just to name a few.

Guest speaker Sweta Sud, Executive Director at the PNG Institute of Business and Banking, also spoke of the importance of empowering women within business, as a means of creating wealth for families and communities.

WCCI is dedicated towards a vision of empowering and strengthening female entrepreneurs throughout business. It aims to create a supportive environment for wealth creation opportunities, for the other 50 per cent of PNG’s population.
