PNG Olympic Committe Inducts Five New Names to Hall of Fame

The PNG Olympic Committee announced today that five new names will be inducted into the PNG Sports Hall of Fame.

Whilst the five former athletes were not revealed, they come from the sports of Swimming, Athletics, Boxing and Weightlifting.

Their endeavours made them champions, time made them legends. And they are now on the verge of being immortalised in the PNG Sport Hall of fame.

This is the second half of fame induction by the PNG Olympic Committee, the first held in 2011, and Olympic Committee, Secretary General, Auvita Rapilla, is ecstatic at the announcement.

The first hall of fame was held in 2011 as part of the committees 50th anniversary celebrations, and the first two inductees were Sir John Kaputin, and Edward Laboran, both of whom were members of the first team from the Territory of Papua and New Guinea, to the British Empire Games, now called the Commonwealth Games.

The induction ceremony will be held on the 26th of November, with the committee, hoping to gather all five to be present for the event.
