The Catholic Church in Papua New Guinea successfully launched its third book today.
The book was written and published with financial assistance from the Catholic Church in Australia.
This coincided with the commissioning of teachers, teaching in catholic schools in and around Port Moresby at the Saint Joseph Parish.
The book is titled Dare to Love, and was formally launched by Sister Mary McCarthy, who is the National Christian Education Coordinator.
The book stresses on the virtues of respect, honesty, loyalty and kindness.
It will be used alongside the teacher’s guide, which was published recently.
It is ready to be distributed to schools and will be taught to students from grades five to grade six.
It contains excellent teaching materials which the Catholic Church believes is not being taught to students in school.
Sister McCarthy explained that it is a student book and hopes it will not only be used in the classroom but, that parents will buy it for their families and use it in sharing their faith, and also when teaching their children about drugs, alcohol and human sexuality.
The books will be shipped to Lae from Port Moresby before being distributed to other centers. The books are to be sold K3 for a copy.
