PM meets Star Mountains Landowners

Mineral Resources Star Mountains representatives ofthe 10 villages situated aroundthe Ok Tedi Mine Lease area accepted key offers by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill yesterday to increase MRSM’s shares in Ok Tedi Mine.

The offer includes building of a tailings dam for the safe dumping of mine waste.

These will come into effect afterthe government takes overPNG Sustainable Development Programme.

The board members supportthe government’s decision to take overPNGSDP. They claim it has failed to deliver tangible services tothe people of Western Province.

Beard Chairman Bell Menim saidthey have allowedthe government to distributethe shares, with Western Province accessing most ofthe revenue from Ok Tedi.
