Students attending Pangia Secondary School in Southern Highlands Province will be able to enroll at the Western Pacific University by 2020.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill made the confirmation on Thursday when attending the school’s graduation ceremony.
He said the Chinese Government has promised 50 million kina to the university for students at Pangia Secondary to be enrolled by 2020.
Mr. O’Neill added that the PNG government has also allocated another K50, 000 to counter-fund the infrastructure work at the secondary school.
The Prime Minister also announced that the lalibu-Pangia District Administration plans to introduce digital education for those who cannot make it into grade 12 and other colleges, so they can study at home using the internet.
He encouraged the students to always put their education first, and promised a laptop each for the top scoring students next year.
