NCD Rugby Set For Next Week

With the conclusion of the Rugby Union season in Port Moresby, NCD School Rugby is set to kick-off for another year.

Despite the availability of venues, seven schools in the Nation’s Capital will be participating in the three week competition.

The increase in the number of girls participating also calls for an inclusion of a division in the Capital Rugby Union to cater for girls under the age of 19.

Anticipating an increase of participating schools, the availability of a venue has seen only a number of schools participate in this year’s three week competition.

Students participating are selected after the conclusion of the Pacific in Union Program’s rugby festival.

Port Moresby Grammar, Port Moresby International, St Joseph’s Catholic College, Korobosea International, Boroko Primary and Kopkop College, will be fielding teams in the U-13, U-15 and U-17 Boys, and U-15 and U-17 Girls division.

With the increase of students participating, especially the number of girls in the roll-out of the Pacific in Union and Get into Rugby programs in Port Moresby, there is a demand to include a U-19 girls division to cater for girls who are aged between 17 and 18 years.

This will bridge the gap and build young women for representative football.

All NCD School Rugby matches will be played at both the Monier Rugby Park and Port Moresby International School campuses respectively.
