Three Police stations in Mt Hagen have been given a facelift after years of deterioration.
SP Brewery started its ‘Keep it Cool, Don’t Drink like a Fool’ campaign in Mt Hagen by partnering with Police.
Corporate Affairs Manager, John Nilkare said the campaign is an awareness to its consumers to drink responsibly.
The three police stations are Kimininga Mobile Police Barracks, Airport Police Station and Market Police station which houses the Community Policing and Internal Investigation Units.
The three police stations have been run down for more than five to six years until SP Brewery came in to support.
Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Martin Lakari said this public-private partnership with police will motivate them to work hard.
Mt. Hagen Community Policing Station Commander, Sergeant Susan Mondia said Community Policing have been dealing with a high number of drunkard issues for the past five years.
They have also received and addressed a high number of car accidents issues due to people driving under the influence of alcohol.
She praised this partnership which saw the renovating and painting of the police stations a motivation for her job.
Meanwhile, SP Brewery’s Corporate Affairs Manager, John Nilkare said they have identified that irresponsible consumption of alcohol has been a problem throughout PNG.
They have identified that by partnering with police they can address this issue. SP Brewery has plans to do maintenance at the Mt Hagen Traffic Office.
They are also planning to partner with police in other Provinces to pass on the same message, ‘Keep it Cool, Don’t Drink Like a Fool’.
