The historic Mount Hagen show hasn’t failed to generate money for Western Highlands Province tourism coffers.
Hotels, motels and transport businesses have made good Profits for this weekend, giving the Province revenues in the millions of kina.
Show coordinators say the event has been a success again for everyone involved.
The Mount Hagen show has been going on for the last 53 years, it’s been successful in the past and continues to be.
It’s an event that has brought in annual revenues totaling millions of kina for the Province, especially the tourism sector.
But it’s not just the big businesses that benefit, even the locals.
“I come sell food to make money for my family,” says Mt.Hagen Resident,” Rachael Clay.
Transportation businesses, hotels and motels have made incredible amounts of money, in just this weekend from visitors.
Some may argue about the quality of the dance costumes and the general attraction.
But, Visitors still see this show as a glimpse into our diverse cultures and traditions.
The organizing committee has had challenges, they had feared for security problems, but they say is has been smooth sailing since Saturday.
“Everyone from hire car companies, Hotels, Motels and Airlines companies have made,” says Events Coordinator, Gabrielle Kuntina.
