Menyamya District inthe Morobe Province will soon be wired tothe outside world underthe Menyamya Communication Project.
This project will be carrlied out bythe Papua New GuineaMedia Unit under its rural communication program. Scoping ofthe area has been done to find a suitable place to erectthe towers.
PNG Media Unit Team Leader Philip Sapau saidthey will be usingthe old Telikom towers inthe area for transmission.
Local member Benjamin Philip has allocated K 1m underthe DSIP for this project. He says:
“Through this communication projectoI believe it will improverthe livelihood ofthe community in terms of education and basic services.
“This is one step I’m taking for the good of my people and our children of Menyamya District.
Adding on Mr Sapau froPNG Media Unit’saidthey are now trying to improverthe media in rural areas so that so thatthe rural people can have access to both radio and TV.
