Lae Businesses Support PNG Games

Major businesses houses in Lae have poured in more support towards the staging of the sixth PNG Games in Lae come November.

PNG Games CEO, Materua Tamarua, called on the business community in Lae to join fellow associates by lending more support towards staging the nation’s biggest biennial sporting event.

 

In the past two months, the PNG Games organising committee have received extensive support from major business houses in Lae.

 

Since the beginning of this month, Lae Biscuit Company and PNG Ports Corporation contributed K350, 000, to the game’s Host Organising Committee (HOC).

 

Last week, Prima Smallgoods, the leading sausage manufacturers in the country chucked in a total of K150, 000, as their contribution.

 

The Morobe provincial government and the Lae District have also allocated funds for the games amounting to nearly K200, 000.

 

The HOC is using the funds provided by these sponsors to focus on upgrading sporting venues its facilities.

 

The funding commitMen’s, meanwhile, from the National Government are yet to be released to assist in the maintenance of the facilities. 

 

The HOC says, they want to bring PNG’s largest sporting event to a new level, with support from these business houses.
