Port Moresby police say criminals are developing a new tactic when it comes to stealing vehicles.
NCD and Central Divisional Commander, Sylvester Kalaut, said seven vehicles were reported stolen in Port Moresby over the weekend, between 11pm on Friday and 4am on Sunday.
Kalaut said criminals are using stolen vehicles to then steal other vehicles, and he advises residents of Port Moresby to be vigilant when moving around the city, especially after 11pm.
“Most of these crimes occur after parties at night and we believe criminals follow vehicle owners home and steal the cars when they are trying to enter their house,” Kalaut said.
As of 3pm today, police have located three of the seven stolen vehicles.
