Huawei Technologies launches Huawei ICT Talent Program with University of Technology

Huawei technologies PNG limited, in partnership with National Information and Communication Authority of PNG, and the PNG University of Technology, today (30 October, 2018) launched the Huawei ICT Talent Program.

The talent program will see students taking up ICT courses at the PNG University of Technology.

At the Launching of the ICT training program today, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Huawei Technologies PNG Limited and the PNG University of PNG for an ICT Academy Cooperation Initiative.

The ICT Academy program will help equip professionals with ICT skills, and promote ICT literacy in the country.

NICTA acting CEO, Kila Gulo-Vui says business houses and enterprises in PNG needs create an ICT skills frame work, to enable them to better understand what they lack in ICT.

And the Huawei ICT talent program will help them achieve that.

Under this program, Huawei in collaboration with NICTA, will run ICT courses at Unitech in Lae.

And they will also help to build an ICT laboratory for the students to use at PNG Unitech.

Chinese Ambassador Xue Bing witnessed the launching, and said he was pleased with the Initiative Huawei has taken to support ICT development in PNG.

Unitech Deputy Vise Chancellor Dr. Ora Renagi was happy that NICTA and Huawei PNG have chosen to work with Unitech.

Under the program, Huawei will provide 30,000 US dollars for scholarships.

And students who graduate under this program will start their working career with Huawei Technologies.
