Almost 200 girls turned up at the National Sports Institute in Goroka to take part in the FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ Legacy Program.
FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup official mascot, Susa, also made an appearance.
Many of the girls were within the age 4 and 18 years old, and were from two primary schools in Goroka.
Goroka Grammar School Principal and School Soccer President, Paddy Kelly, officially launched the program.
He said ‘’Live Your Goals’’ is a great program that helps increase the participation of girls in the code of football.
He said another great way to get more girls involved in the sport is by using the current school system.
The PNG U20 Women’s team was present as well to help teach young girls, basic football techniques. The day was filled with many fun activities which also saw PNG U20 Women’s Coach, Lisa Cole, take part.
The next Live Your Goals Program will be rolled out in Kimbe, West New Britain Province, next week.
